I'm looking for information about a George Garver.  He was born to William A. Garver (d. 1881, Dodge Co.) and Maria Louise (Martin) Garver (b. 1853 NY, d. 1935. Dodge Co.).  I believe William  and Maria had 5 children:  Kate (Garver) Middleton, Effie Garver, Martin Garver, Unknown Garver, and George.  I have no information about George other than mention of his name in his mother's obituary.  Also, does anyone have any information about the "Mr. Middleton" whom Kate married?  This would have been in approximately 1900.  Thanks. I am researching Augusta, August, and Alvina Kottke who came to U.S. in 1883 and settled in vicinity of Kassen, Dodge County, Minnesota.  I do not know if they came with their parents (Julius Kottke and Amelia Pankonin Kottke) to MN or not.  I know nothing about their parents except their names, which were listed on August's death certificate.  I am wondering if they might be on the 1885 or 1895 MN States Census?  They left several more brothers and sisters somewhere in Germany when they immigrated to the United States.
Augusta M. Kottke was born December, 1866 in West Prussia, Germany.  She married John Trapp and lived in Wasioja area, I believe.  They had a son named Walter, who was born in May, 1894.  I recently ordered death certificates for Augusta and John Trapp from the MN Historical Society, but have not yet received them.
Alvina Pauline Kottke was born May 21, 1872 in West Prussia, Germany.  She married Herman Frederick Guell/Gill (who was born in WI on June 3, 1873) on April 6, 1897 in the vicinity of Wasioja/Kassen/Mantorville, MN.  Herman Gill had lived only a few years in this area.  Twin sons were born at Wasioja, MN in December, 1898.  The family then moved to Hawley, MN before 1900.
August Kottke was born November 27, 1869 in West Prussia, Germany.  He worked and also went to school for awhile in the Kassen, MN area from 1883 until 1888, when he moved to Bristol, Day County, South Dakota.  He later married at Bristol, SD.
I would appreciate any helpful information.  Thank you for your help and time. Sincerely, Cheryl Herrig-Ness cherrig_ness@yahoo.com

Charles Wesley WHITNEY died in Dodge County, MN on June 2, 1923. A MN Cemetery Inscription List mentions a Charles Whitney buried in the Potter Section of the Riverside Cemetery in Wasioja Township, and although that lists a death date of 1922, I think this might be the Chas Whitney I have been searching for.  His mother, Leitha (Dill) Whitney-Brundrett was living in Greenfield, MO and was called to her son's bedside, but he died before she arrived.  While she was here, her daughter back in Greenfield, MO died unexpectedly at age 15.  Is there anyone who might check the obituary file for Chas Wesley Whitney (that is how his name is listed on the Minnesota Historical Death Index.)  He was born in 1897 in Missouri and came to MN in the early 1900s.  I don't know if there are other Whitneys in Dodge County or what he was doing there.  Other Whitneys were in Crow Wing County, MN then.  Any information would be appreciated, including whether or not there is a cemetery index that would show this information and whether or not a potter's grave would have a headstone. jkmoran@brainerd.net

I just discovered the name of William Henry HANNA on the Minnesota Historical Society Death index 1908-1946 at http://people.mnhs.org/dci/.

Searching for the death dates for Alexander Houston and his wife Betsy (Parks) Houston.  Alexander is supposedly buried in the Maple Grove cemetery near Kasson.  He arrived in Dodge County from Blue Earth Co., MN in the late summer of 1862 following the Sioux Uprising.  He chose not to return to Blue Earth Co. but, to make his new home in Dodge Co.  He was born in Acworth, NH early 1800's to 20's.  He died at age 80.  Wife Betsy is born in Acworth, NH perhaps about the same time.  Death date or details unknown.  Assume Betsy is also a Dodge County death and burial.
Does anyone have a lead? Or birth/death dates for either person? Pure guess would be 1880-1900 for a death date range for Alexander.  His wife survived him.  Children were Watson A., Adeline, and Daniel M.  No details known for children.  Can share some New Hampshire family details. wwp@unique-software.com

Searching for any info on the Barnes Family of Dodge and Goodhue Cos. in MN.  On the 1870 Census, in Concord Twp, Dodge Co, there is a Barnes family -- listed as a Jed Barnes on the index.  The actual census report copy that I have is not clear as to the first name of the head of household.  It is a J----- Barnes, Age 48-Bn NY; P.G.Barnes, age 24, Bn NY; Isadora, age 19,Bn NY; Jedediah, Age 16, Bn PA; and Albert, Age 13, Bn PA. I do know that the P.G. Barnes married as a second wife, Sarah (Elias) Abel.  In Sarah's obit in 1935, it states that she was married to P.G. Barnes who had died c 1913; and Sarah had step sons named H.O. Barnes (living in Odenburg, WI in 1935) and J.A. Barnes (living in Brainerd, MN in 1935). I also found reference to a Jedediah Barnes across the county line, in Goodhue County -- who founded the Congregational Church there.  I suspect that it is of the same family, as the name Jedediah Barnes is not common. Would appreciate contact from anyone who has any info on this family. Gayle Griffin glg1gayle@aol.com

I am the daughter of Lowell Dean Nielsen of Hayfield, Minn.  I'm looking for any information I can find about my dad's parents.  I know my grandad (Christain Nielsen) was born somewhere in Denmark. I know not when, where, or when he settled in Hayfield.  My grandma wasfirst married to a man named Flemming, or Fleming. I,m not even sur of her first name (Anne, or Annie I think). Her maiden name is unknown to me.  I believe they are both burried in Fairview cemetery in Hayfield.  Grandad worked for the railroad, Chicago Great Northern i think.  Grandma was a midwife.  She had 2 children by Mr. Flemming, a son Clayton and a daughter Lavonne. Then came my uncle Douglas, who now lives in Buffalo, minn.  My uncle Earl of St. Paul.  Then my dad, Lowell, and finally uncle Brooks.  Grandad died in the 1970s, he was 86.  Grandma died around 1981, she was 96 I think.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you. Sincerly; Lindee Nielsen-Town musebgy@ptialaska.net

I'm searching for additional information regarding my great grandfather:
John ANDERSON DOB: 1/22/1859 DOD: 10/30/1942. Buried in Riverside Cemetary, Dodge County. Married to Ida D. (Hall) Anderson DOD: 3/17/1946 He lived in Ely for a number of years and fathered a child (John Anderson, DOB 1894, my grandfather) by an Ojibwe woman (Otumewaygeshigoke) who died in 1903. My grandfather was raised by another family in Ely, although his father would visit from time to time when he was a young man. I have a Ely newspaper photo of the elder John Anderson and articles about his business activities in Tower and Ely. I have his obituary from the Dodge Center newspaper, but am interested in any other local newspaper articles and/or photographs of him. Thank you Dan Anderson 810-7th St. Cloquet, MN 55720 dananderson@fdlrez.com
