I am interested in any information regarding the marriage of John A. What was his first name. I am researching Henry J. BAKER who was on census in 1880 in Claremont. Were they the same man?

What was the name of the Railroad and what was the route? I cannot find Henry or his wife and dau. after 1880. Henry is believed to have died before 1911.  Jackie  jhumphre@ix.netcom.com

Rev. Merrit HOUSE was a Baptist preacher 1811-1883 in Claremont, Dodge Co. MN. Looking for name of his church and name of cemetery where he was buried. His wife Maria LEE 1814- 1907 in Eyota, Olmsted Co. MN.  Both b. VT. Would like to correpond with descendants.

Are church records available for 1880-1890 time period?

Merrit's wife Maria HOUSE was cousin to Henry J. BAKER b. 1834 NYS, through the MILLARD family of VT. Both BAKER and HOUSE families resided near each other in 1880 in Claremont. Need info after 1883, any dates that Henry BAKER appeared in Claremont, or deaths or burials for Henry and wife Frances/Fannie b. ca 1831/1832 NYS. Also any marr. or deaths for children Samuel Henry Baker b. ca 1857 NYS and Frances/Fannie b. ca 1867/1868 NYS.

Did Claremont have an 1885 or 1895 State census?

Would appreciate any leads. J. Humphrey jhumphre@ix.netcom.com

Looking for info on the marriage of John R. THOMPSON (6/--/1860-7/28/1929) to Nancy LYNCH (5/4/1850-3/24/1944).

John  R. was the son of John THOMPSON and Jane BELL THOMPSON who were married in 1853 and settled in Ripley Township in 1858.  John R (the son) eventually had a farm in Claremont Township for 11 yrs and then farmed near Northfield, subsequently moving to Belfield, ND.

Nancy LYNCH  was the daughter of Dennis and Ellen LYNCH of Ashland Township.  Mother and Father LYNCH came to Ashland Township in 1857.  According to Ellen LYNCH obit, Nancy LYNCH was still not married when Ellen died 7/13/1885.  My grandmother, Ellen THOMPSON ESSLINGER, was born 7/15/1891 in Claremont, Mn so the marriage must have been between 1885 and 1891.

What is unusual for the time is that Nancy was 10 yrs older than John.  They only had one child, Ellen.

They are both buried in Dickinson, ND.

I am looking for a notice of the wedding from a newspaper, if it was published.

Thanks.  Jerry Bich  jbich@mn.rr.com
