My ancestors were in Dodge County from the late 1860s until the mid 1880s.  I would love to find out where they lived and any information about how they got there and why they moved around.  Here is the information I have.
1867 Hans Jacob Brandli & his wife Elizabeth and 5 children leave Switzerland for the U.S.
    Children:  Jacob, b 1853
                    Louise, b 1855
                    John, b 1856
                    Ida, b 1858
                    Elisabeth, b 1863

1870 they are living in Mantorville with father and oldest three children working as laborer, farm hand or servant.  The census says they have $800 of real estate.
1879 son Jacob marries local gal Ida May Elias
1880 Jacob & Ida are in Concord.  Folks and family are in Milton
1885 Jacob & Ida with two children are now in New Haven, Olmstead
1890 Jacob & Ida with three kids still in New Haven, Olmstead
1900 Jacob & Ida with five kids (oldest one has married and left home) still in New Haven
1902 Jacob & Ida move to Roseau County in Northern Minnesota with their children (except for Elizabeth Ann or “Libby” who has married Will Lyke.

Thanks for any information you might have.  Oshiners@cfl.rr.com

Do you have a list of people buried at Riverside?  I am looking for a Carl J or Johanna Goehtz.  I have a old yellowed obit that is all in German and the only thing I can get from it is "aus Dodg Cettr" and I think aus means out or from. Sometimes it is spelled Gohtz.  Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Sue Quam  jrquam@smig.net

A Historic Home of William Sayer Dibble and his wife Gertrude Owens will be restored to an Art Center in Marshall Minnesota. We would like a history of the family that lived in this home. In a 1900 Biography of this family it says "Gertrude Owen Dibble was the daughter of Mr. Jonathan Owen, the original proprietor of the village site of Kasson. Gertrude received a liberal education and was prominent as an educator in Dodge County for several years." Gertrude was William S. Dibble's second wife. I am very interested in the fact that she was an educator. Can anyone help with this history?  Ellen Skramstad  Marshall Area Fine Arts Council  elpskram@charter.net

I live in Mantorville in the Sim and Flora Boggs house (the first black couple to come to Mantorville). Their son Lewis Kennedy Boggs married SUSIE GILDE on JULY 4, 1891 daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. GILDE. On April 8th 1895 the family came to Blooming Prairie where Mr. Boggs became a barber. I would love more information on SUSIE GILDE birth or any other info. Thank you so much for any help you can give me. Kim Boyum 2turkeys@kmtel.com

I find no land patents for the name Thoe in Dodge County but I know that many Thoes settled there and still have farms there.  Is it possible that they bought the land or used their paternal names such as ODD KNUDSON THOE.  I know my gr gr grandfather Odd Knudson Thoe had a farm there about 1880 and his name is on the plat map.  He did leave for South Dakota where he did homestead in Day County.  Maybe someone can explain this to me?

Thanks,  Kathy  kathysig@insightbb.com

I am looking for: LANSING, William; wife's name was Deborah; children listed as Jessie (son) and step-daughter Libbie Chase.   This info was on the 1880 census for Mantorville, Dodge Co.

I cannot find them in the 1890 census or beyond.   I am interested in obtaining their marriage certificate, but I'm not sure when they were married.  Deborah was married to Horace Chase and lived in Wisconsin until at least 1871.    Libbie Chase was my grandmother, and Deborah was her mother.

Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Liz Upton  ebeth23@earthlink.net

Does anyone know if township record books still exist for Ellington and Ripley townships? I've already searched your court house records for my FRIED children and did not find them there. I have previously found children reported in township books who were somehow never entered into county records. How about land plats for these townships? Are those searchable?

Ignatz FRIED and Mary Theresa (Hager) FRIED lived in Ellington Twp., Dodge Co.,  in the 1885 census, and in the 1895 census, it places them in Ripley Twp. of Dodge Co. approximately from Dec 1891 or January 1892 until at least after the enumeration date of June 5, 1895,  which is during the time son Edward was born on April 29, 1895. Son William was born January 23, 1890, in Steele Co according to his WW1 draft registration, but there is no record there. There may have been a move between 1885 to Steele Co., when daughter Anna was born August 29, 1886 and then back to Ripley Twp.. She is recorded as born in Havana Twp. of Steele Co. I believe they moved around a bit across the borders of the two counties. One older child Joseph was baptized at Claremont in 1879.

My major search is for older children Sophie Clara FRIED born December 9, 1881 and August Christian FRIED born February 9, 1884. I'm hoping to find all the children. Thanks for any help. Judy   juolson@yahoo.com

I am searching for information on Anna Thoe born 1858 Norway, daughter of Odd K. and Brita Thoe, who immigrated to Dodge County, MN in 1872.  She married a "Harramb" but I have been unable to find this marriage record.  Would someone please do a lookup for me for Anna's marriage record at the West St. Olaf church.  It would be about 1884.  I also cannot find her in the 1800 Dodge County census with her family.

Any help would be appreciated.  Kathy  kathysig@insightbb.com

I am looking for genealogical information on:

Olaf (Ole) GUNDERSON (Seksae)

b. 1878   Norway
d.  13 Feb. 1953   Fort Dodge Iowa

m.  Clara Gangestad

          b. 1838

son:  Gerhard

         b. 8 Feb. 1905

         d.  23 Nov. 1978

daughter:  Marjorie

         b.  1931

Olaf and his family lived on a farm in West Concord, Minn starting about 1920, and lived there until his wife died in 1948. It is believed that he then sold the farm in about 1948. I would appreciate it if you would look to see if you can find anything about them, especially if there would be a plat map or a city directory listing them as a family there.

I will pay whatever fee you might require.

 Thank you, Barbara Benton  benton53213@yahoo.com
